曲柄臂就是与活塞连杆大端连接的部分；而曲轴主轴承则在曲轴之旋转中心轴处支撑曲轴。曲轴于各个曲柄臂旁都有类似半圆形状的曲轴配重，使得偏心运转的曲柄臂之质量中心能落于旋转中心上，以消除偏心运转所带来之震动。
